Ever since college, I’ve been drawn back repeatedly to the liturgy of Celebrating Common Prayer that comes out of the Society of Saint Francis.

Here’s a wonderful prayer that stands as the Collect for Friday Midday prayer which I’ve just used to give a bit of ‘punctuation’ to an otherwise ‘messy’ day – I hope you find it as inspiring and nourishing as I:

May the power of your love, Lord Christ,
fiery and sweet
so absorb our hearts
as to withdraw them from all that is under heaven;
grant that we may be ready
to die for love of your love
as you died for love of our love. Amen
