Plans for 2010

turning ten plans

Nurturing what God has given us here to be an increasingly effective centre for our community, giving people of every age the opportunity to experience the love of God in Jesus through the Spirit for themselves.

The plans here make up our Mission Action Plan - something every church in the Diocese of London puts together to help focus thinking, praying and action on the particular mission they believe they have under God.

We'd love to hear what excites you most about what you read hear... let us know!
If you want to be part of what God's doing in All Souls one vital way is to give financially to the work of the church - find out more about giving here online.

Adoration

…it's not about us!

This is the value that underpins all the rest - it's not something that leads to a series of plans, but reminds us that we want to put Jesus first in our Sunday worship, in our daily lives and in the business of planning our future as a church.

…building a welcoming and caring community together.

In 2010 we're aiming to...

  • ...establish at least two more Home Groups in 2010
  • ...be more creative and frequent with socials and encourage other ways to grow community.
  • ...try out new ways of giving opportunities for receiving personal prayer on Sundays and in group settings.
  • ...develop our Sunday Welcome Team's role to more intentionally help newcomers belong.
  • and plenty more besides: find ways to help children and teens belong (eg. a Soul Time Club); grow our Prayer Chain to support people in times of particular need.

…making a real difference to our world.

In 2010 we're aiming to...

  • ...launch the 10th Birthday Project to make our church building a genuine gift to our local community and a powerful base for transforming lives.
  • ...act to cut the church site's carbon footprint by considerably more than 20% as an act of compassion towards the poorest in our world and better stewardship of our resources.
  • ...build on our fantastic local presence through Little Souls' carers' & toddlers' group to serve local young families.
  • ...increase the money we can give away to those serving others who have less than we do, locally and abroad.
  • and plenty more besides: widen the reach and range of life-skills courses - eg. marriage, money, parenting; grow our support for Ivybridge Community Church; build up a relationship with Worple School; keep sustainable living as a key part of our preaching, discussion and choices.

…helping each other grow in faith.

In 2010 we're aiming to...

  • ...employ a Children's Worker - to help develop our discipleship of children and development of leaders.
  • ...establish a Ministry Fund to ensure continuity of staffing from 2011 when other funding stops.
  • ...develop a more systematic provision of Short Courses.
  • ...roll out a discipleship course run throughout the year based on the Why Jesus? model.
  • and plenty more besides: find ways to promote prayer triplets; publicise externally run courses; re-start the Vicar's blog and look at podcasting; start a 'jobs' section on the website to help people offer their time and skills.

…finding ways to introduce people to Jesus.

In 2010 we're aiming to...

  • ...start a monthly Monday Communion and lunch, particularly to connect with local older people
  • ...pilot midweek all-age worship ('Messy Church') with non-church families (via Little Souls base)
  • ...improve our 'face' to the community - our front garden/windows/wall
  • ...offer a daytime Why Jesus? Course with crèche
  • ...host the Big Lunch and The Gift again in 2010.
  • ...and plenty more besides: launch a new website; encourage children/teens to invite their friends; look at other events for children beyond Sundays; use Easter as a way to connect with local schools.
